On the move:
Jason Warley is trained in various genres of dance, including jazz, street-jazz, modern, ballet and theater dance. His broad-base training is evident in his choreography; he fuses elements of pedestrian movement, elongated lines, breath-taking suspensions and hard-hitting precision. As a choreographer, he creates from a very theatrical perspective, taking the viewer on a journey towards comical, political or emotional reveal. This approach easily transitioned him into the world of musical theater. In that realm, Jason served as a resident choreographer for Plays-in-the-Park (Central Jersey's leading community theater) from 2003 through 2009. While at Plays-in-the-Park, he choreographed productions of Ragtime, Dreamgirls, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and Singin' in the Rain. Most recently, he staged a regional theater production of Dreamgirls in Concert for ReVision Theatre Company, starring Patrice Covington in the role of Effie (from Dreamgirls National Tour, 2010).
Jason's commercial credits include the 2000 world tour for 80's pop diva, Shannon. His choreography to her chart-topping remixes of "Let the music play" and "Give me tonight" (mixed by Junior Vasquez and Hex Hector) were prominently featured in her sold-out concert performances . Other works by Jason have been showcased at many reputable venues, namely Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall (NYC), Aaron Davis Hall (NYC), and the Ohio Theater at Playhouse Square (Cleveland, Ohio).
Jason's upcoming project, The Show, is an athletic and stylistically erotic theater dance piece featuring some of New York's sexist male dancers performing his choreography to classic standards and show tunes.
